SO MUCH TO SEE

Southern Arizona is a land of wide-open spaces with lots to see and do. We’ve organized our recommendations by drive time to make it easier for you to plan your visits to these top-rated destinations.

30 minutes or less drive from LMV

Sonoita-Elgin Wine Trail  Southern Arizona is the original Arizona wine region, dating back to when the Jesuits arrived in the 1600’s to build missions and brought their grapevines with them to make wine. Currently there are 16 wineries for you to experience.

Kartchner Caverns State Park   A rare living cave, Kartchner Caverns reveals a hidden world of vast limestone rooms and natural sculptures. Reserve your tour tickets in advance as this is one of the State’s most popular attractions.

The Nature Conservancy’s Ramsey Canyon Preserve  Ramsey Canyon is a migratory corridor and critical nesting habitat for many species of birds, including hummingbirds. Enjoy hiking and bird watching here.

Fort Huachuca Established in 1877 during the Native American Wars, Fort Huachuca was home to the “Buffalo Soldiers,” the Tenth Calvary Division composed of African American Fighters. In 1916, these men accompanied General Pershing when he chased Pancho Villa into Mexico. The Fort Huachuca Historical Museum exhibits military memorabilia.

45-minute drive from LMV

Pima Air & Space Museum  This outdoor museum houses more than 400 historic aircraft and is the third-largest aviation museum in the country. Guided tours are recommended since, often, the volunteer guides are retired military personnel and exceptionally knowledgeable.

Bisbee  Enter this historic mining town through the Mule Pass tunnel, the longest tunnel in Arizona. Explore the steep, winding streets and hit the highlights which include the Queen Mine Tour, Brewery Gulch, Bisbee’s 1000 ("The Great Stair Climb"), and the Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum.

Tombstone  “The Town Too Tough to Die” is the real thing despite its touristy trappings. See the O.K. Corral with the gunfight re-enactment, the Tombstone Courthouse, Boothill Graveyard, Crystal Palace Saloon, and more.

One hour to 1 ½ hour drive from LMV

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum A special blend of zoo, science center, aquarium, museum, and botanical garden, this mostly-outdoor museum tells the story of life in the Sonoran Desert. It is a one-of-a-kind place in a spectacular natural setting that enthralls adults and children.

Mission of San Xavier Del Bac  The “White Dove of the Desert” is an elegant historic mission composed of domes and arches. Built in the late 1700s, it was created to serve the needs of the local community, specifically the village of Wa:k (San Xavier District) on the Tohono O’odham reservation – and it continues to do so today.

Tubac   A place where art and history meet, contemporary Tubac is a dream destination for shoppers who like Southwest and Mexican design. The Tubac Center for the Arts exhibits works by local artists.

Tumacácori   Tumacácori Mission is a national treasure. Built around 1800 by the Franciscans, it rises from the desert floor like a half-finished cathedral.

Tucson  The second largest city in the state, Tucson is the oldest inhabited city in the country. The Presidio San Agustin del Tucson was established in 1775. Surrounded by four mountain ranges, the city offers year-round outdoor adventure as well as a variety of exciting cultural opportunities and culinary choices.

Kind words from our Guest, Maria

After much traveling this year, we finally visited Los Milics Vineyards to celebrate our anniversary. Arriving in the early afternoon, we were warmly welcomed.

Our visit began with a wine tasting and delicious food from the onsite restaurant named after the iconic mountain, The Biscuit. The weather was perfect, and the serene outdoor setting made it easy to relax and enjoy the stunning vineyard and mountain views.

Afterward, we drove a short distance to our casita, which was spacious, beautifully designed, and private. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a patio door brought the outdoors in, enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.

Dinner truly exceeded our expectations. The food was exquisite, beautifully presented, and complemented by impeccable service.

The next morning, we woke to a breathtaking sunrise over the Mustang Mountains from the comfort of our cozy bed. A breakfast basket with fresh orange juice and a Nespresso machine added to the charm.

We can’t wait to return and highly recommend Los Milics for a relaxing and unforgettable getaway!!
